William Henry Shank

William Henry Shank, 88, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on March 16, 1930 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Henry Mounz and Marguerite (Haines) Shank. He married Shirley ‘Ann' Wright on September 30, 1955 and she survives. William was a telegraph operator and station agent for B & O and CSX Railroad for 40 years. His hobbies included camping, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling with Ann across the United States and Canada. He was a member of the Sumner Congregational Christian Church and the American Legion. He served his country as an Army veteran in the Korean War. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Norman Shank and John Shank; and one sister, Evelyn Brewer. Survivors include his wife, Ann; one son, Douglas Shank and Robyn of Elkhart, Indiana; one daughter, Cheryl Kranyak and husband, Robert, of Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Betty Dailey of Vincennes, Indiana and Mary Grove of Sumner, Illinois; three grandchildren, Andrea Kranyak, Daniel Kranyak, and Jeffrey Kranyak; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM CST at the Sumner Congregational Christian Church in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the church. Burial will be in the Chauncey Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in William's memory may be made to the Sumner Congregational Christian Church. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
