Virginia Christine Horn

Virginia Christine Gilkey Horn, 86, of Casey, IL (formerly of Lawrenceville, IL) passed away Sunday July 22, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Home in Casey, IL. Born April 6, 1926 in Danville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John Oscar and Melissa (Cowell) Gilkey. On December 31, 1949 she married David Horn. He died in 1979. She worked at Suttle Apparatus. She also worked at the United Methodist Village in the kitchen. She attended the Highway Church of God. Survivors include a son: David C. and his wife JoAnn Horn of Farmington, MO, three daughters: Anita and her husband Danny Burnett of Bridgeport, IL, Renetta Besser of Escondido, CA, Kimberly and her husband Eric Shaffner of Annapolis, IL, three brothers: William T. Gilkey of California, Boyd Gilkey of Phoenix, AZ, Bobby Gene Gilkey of Kentucky, one sister: Bernice Dunning of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Pam Dunlap of Missouri, Mike Burnett of Lawrenceville, Tamara Kocher of Lawrenceville, Crissy Mulligan of Massachusetts, Jennifer Thomas of Colorado, Crystal Besser of Colorado, Amy Shindler of Florida, Joshua Woodward of Palestine, and Mikayla Shaffner of Annapolis, IL, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, and husband, two brothers, three sisters and a grandson Wayne Horn, are deceased. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00pm.
