Suzanne Summers Obituary

Suzanne Summers, age 93, of Bloomington, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 at Heritage Manor in Bloomington, Illinois. She was born on April 02, 1929 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of Wilbur Childress Smith and Mary Helen (Rall) Smith. She married Harold ‘Hal’ Summers on June 30, 1950, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1982.

Suzanne grew up in Lawrenceville, where she met the love of her life, Hal. They later moved to Rantoul, where she spent the majority of her life and worked for the Rantoul City Schools. She enjoyed watching and following her loved ones play and coach sports. She spent a lot of time on the bench, watching everything from basketball to volleyball to golf. She also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, painting, and shopping. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and one brother Ralph Smith.

Survivors include two children, Scott R. Summers and his wife, Margaret Summers of Phoenix, Arizona and Cindy Sheley and her husband, Greg Sheley of Bloomington, Illinois; as well as three grandchildren, Halle Sheley, Garett Sheley, and Summer Sheley.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 08, 2023 at 1:00 PM CST at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
