Rosella 'Rosie' Gray Obituary

Rosella ‘Rosie’ L. Gray, age 86, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at her residence. She was born on November 12, 1933 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Carl and Eva Lanore (Blake) York. She married Marlin Gray on August 31, 1950, and he preceded her in death on March 06, 2007.

Rosie was a school bus driver for 41 years, and also worked on the family farm. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bridgeport. She loved children, her Lord and Savior, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was famous for her noodles and chocolate sheet cake. Her family will remember her as a very loving and caring person.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one brother, Robert ‘Bob’ York; and five sisters, Jola Earnst, Nila Williams Tecova, Carol Legg, Mary Wagner, and Madeline Earnst.

Survivors include her three children, Michael Gray and wife, Yvonne of Montgomery City, Missouri, Judy Marlene Gray of Sacramento, California, and Alan Gray and fiancé, Mary Musgrove of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Phyllis Fisher of Hagerstown, Maryland; six grandchildren, Angela Anderson, Jared Gray, Kyle Gray, Jason Riggs, Juston Riggs, and Josh Gray; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Private services for the family will be conducted at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Everyone is welcome to view the service on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Emmons-Macey-Steffey-Funeral-Home-Burial-Cremation-Services-241234759332208/. Extended family and friends are invited to a drive through visitation on Friday from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Please approach the funeral home from south 12th Street, and you will be directed by staff to pass through under the awning. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Bridgeport.
