Robert 'Bob' Kolter Obituary

Robert ‘Bob’ M. Kolter, age 96, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, August 04, 2020 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on March 30, 1924 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Herman and Margorie M. (Morris) Kolter. He married Margaret E. Fiscus on July 19, 1946 and she preceded him in death on July 03, 2014.

In Bob’s younger years, he worked with his father delivering raw milk. He worked from 1940 until his retirement in 2008 for Kolter’s Dairy, that later became Producers Dairy, and is now known as Prairie Farms. As a child, he loved airplanes. He built his own glider and flew it for years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. His memberships included the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville, American Legion, VFW, Elks, and he was a former member of the Soaring Club at George Field. He served his country in the United States Air Force in China-Burma-India during WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Margaret; and daughter, Colleen.

Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Kolter of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Dorothy Lantz of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two nephews, Jamey Lantz and wife, BJ of Ormond Beach, Florida and Bruce Fiscus and wife, Janie of North Vernon, Indiana; one niece, Penny Pruet of Sarasota, Florida; one great-niece, Krystal Lantz of Savannah, Georgia; and one cousin, Billie Moore of Glasgow, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 07, 2020 at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. The service will be private, but will be available for viewing at 2:00 PM CST with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Emmons-Macey-Steffey-Funeral-Home-Burial-Cremation-Services-241234759332208/. Extended family and friends are invited to a drive through visitation on Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM CST at the funeral home in honor of Bob and his family. Please approach the funeral home from south 12th Street, and you will be directed by staff to pass through under the awning. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville.
