Robert 'Rob' E. Vowels

Robert "Rob" Eugene Vowels, age 48, of Olney, IL (formerly of Sumner) passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was born August 23, 1966, in Olney, IL, the son of Robert and Marilyn (Kimmel) Vowels. Rob graduated from Vincennes University where he earned his Associate Degree. He worked as a Tool and Die Operator for Taite Machine and Tool in Kankakee, IL. Rob was an animal lover and was very active in 4-H when he was young. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool. Preceding Rob in death were his maternal grandparents, Bob and Ruby Kimmel; paternal grandparents, Melvin and Wilma Vowels; an aunt, Sharon Vowels, and a special cousin, Kevin Kimmel. Surviving Rob include his parents, Robert and Marilyn Vowels of Sumner, IL and one sister, Jennifer Vowels of Sumner. Also surviving are a nephew Austin and a niece Megan, along with several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society with envelopes available through the funeral home.
