Patricia Yvonne Sturgeon Reed, age 94, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, December 06, 2020 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on October 21, 1926 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Cynthia (Ruark) Sturgeon. She married V.M. ‘Ris’ Reed on January 09, 1945, and they were marred for 60 years before he preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.
Patty worked at Suttle Apparatus during WWII. After her children were grown, she worked for the Unit #10 School District. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and the Lioness Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ris; one son, David Reed; one daughter, Carolyn Roark; two sisters, Marjory Belcher and Iline Flanders; one brother, Earl Sturgeon; infant brother and sister, Roscoe and Elizabeth Sturgeon; two great-great-grandchildren, Bodhi Slachter Pacek and Kaden Kelly.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Slachter and husband, Alan of Edinburgh, Indiana; one son-in-law, Charles Roark of Sumner, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Linda Reed of Sumner, Illinois; six grandchildren, John Reed and wife, Stephanie, Doug Reed and wife, Sheila, Laurie Perry, Steve Slachter and wife, Carmela, Jill Ferguson and husband, Eddie, and Ryan Roark and wife, Jenny; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and she was anticipating the arrival of one great-great-grandchild.
Patty suffered the greatest pain a parent could ever know when her son, David and daughter, Carolyn passed away.
The family wishes to thank the United Methodist Village for the care that Patty was given; she considered it her home. And, Cindy wishes to especially thank the United Methodist Village for allowing her the opportunity to care for her mother during her last few days during this COVID-19 pandemic.
A public graveside service will be conducted on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM CST at the Bridgeport City Cemetery.
