Michele (Waggoner) Mayer Obituary

Michele Ash (Waggoner) Mayer, 54, of St. Amant, Louisiana (formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois) went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday March 27, 2022 at the Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born December 29, 1967 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Lois (Waller) Waggoner and Wm. J. Wheeler, Jr. She married Dave Davis of Olney, Illinois in 1993, and they divorced. She married Leroy Mayer, Jr. of St. Amant, Louisiana in 2014.

Michele attended several Elementary Schools in Indiana and graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1986. She attended Indiana Business College at Vincennes University, Nurses Assistant Training at Ambraw Vocation Center in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and attended Airline School in Miami, Florida. Michele was the Manager of Leader’s Fried Chicken for many years and just started working at Walmart Distribution Center in St. Amant, Louisiana. She was a member of River of Life Worship Center in Port Vincent, Louisiana, where she was baptized. She was an avid sports fan, especially LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Otto and Hazel (Ash)Waller and paternal grandparents, Buck and Mary Seed all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; father-in-law and brother-in-law both from Louisiana; as well as several relatives and friends.

Survivors include her husband Leroy Mayer, Jr. of St. Amant, Louisiana; three sons, Bo Jordan Waggoner and wife, Stephanie of Louisville, Illinois, Sean Dillon Mayer of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Adam Reese Davis of Providence, Kentucky; mother, Lois (Waller) Waggoner of Lawrenceville, Illinois; father, Wm. J. Wheeler, Jr. of California; five grandchildren, Jack and Max Tinsley of Louisville, Illinois, McKayla Rose Marie and Amelia Grace Waggoner of Indiana, and David Brooks Davis of Gonzales, Louisiana; one brother, Jerry Waggoner II of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; as well as several relatives and fur baby, Pepper.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Wesleyan Christian Church, 804 4th Street in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the service hour of 2:00 PM at the church. Memorial donations may be made to LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) in honor of Michele’s Legacy. Church Funeral Services & Crematory in St. Amant, Louisiana and Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois are in charge of the arrangements.
