Melvin M. Jones

Melvin M. Jones, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, February 09, 2022 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on January 06, 1948 in Georgetown, Illinois, the son of Maxwell and Mildred (Snider) Jones. He married Darlene Parke on August 31, 1974, and she survives.

Melvin served our country for six years in the United States Marines and for 19 years in the United States Army. He worked for CSX for 37 years and for MidWest Transit for 15 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, grilling out with his family, and visiting GlennO’s Corner Café in Vincennes every morning.

Preceding him in death his parents; one sister, Helen Hillard; and one daughter, Michelle Jones-Hankins

Survivors include his wife; three children, Melissa Sands of Catlin, Illinois, Christopher Jones and significant other, Sanda of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Melanie Dawn Nall of Robinson, Illinois; one brother, Donald Jones and wife, Melody of Saratoga, California; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Monday from 12:00 PM until the service hour of 2:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
