Mary E. Moore Obituary

Mary E. Moore, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on March 21, 1937 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel Allen and Gleda (Akers) Higgins. She was married to John W. Moore and together they had six children.

Mary was the head cook at the Lawrence County Senior Citizens for 20 years. She was a member of the Hi-Way Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, reading, cleaning, and hearing stories about her grand dogs. Her family will remember her being kind, caring, generous, and always there for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, James Higgins, David Higgins, Jerry Higgins, Bill Higgins, Leroy Higgins, and Gene Higgins; two sisters, Doris Raye Higgins and Alice Evans; and one great-grandson, Trevor Webster.

Survivors include six children, Angela Smith and husband, Terry of Greensboro, North Carolina, Steven Moore of Bridgeport, Illinois, Gary Moore and wife, Joyce of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Cindy Murphy and husband, Mark of Montgomery, Texas, Robin Webster and husband, Emery of Annapolis, Illinois, and Richard Moore and wife, Hope of Bridgeport, Illinois; one brother, Marlin Higgins of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Donna Stevens of Woodstock, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 12:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois and be available for viewing on the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home Burial & Cremation Services Facebook page, which may be found with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Emmons-Macey-Steffey-Funeral-Home-Burial-Cremation-Services-241234759332208/. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Charlottesville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Senior Citizens or the Hi-Way Church of God.
