Mary Elizabeth Havill, age 102, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Thursday December 24, 2020 at Amber Manor Nursing Home in Petersburg, Indiana.
She was born on November 16, 1918 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of William and Ellen (Ferguson) Lake. She was married on June 21, 1941 to Lovell “Dee” Havill. He passed away on August 01, 2000.
Mary was a farm wife. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Sumner, Illinois. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, as well as mowing. In the winter time, she enjoyed painting and word search puzzles. Her ministry was sending cards to family and friends on special occasions. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She prayed daily for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, James, Wendell, David, William; one sister, Dorothy; and one son-in-law, Steve Carter.
Surviving are a daughter, Luzell Carter of Petersburg, Indiana; a son, Terry D. Havill and his wife, Cindy of Sumner, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brandt Havill, Brady Havill and his wife, Robin, Bryan Havill and his wife, Charity, Eric Carter and his fiancé, Terri, and Jalyn Sanford and husband, Mike; seven great-grandchildren, Kinzer Havill, Kyler Havill, Parker Havill, Presley Havill, Ashlyn Sandford, Carter Sandford, and Tyler Sandford, anticipating a great-great grandchild; and a half sister, Pat Lewis.
A public graveside service will be conducted Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 2:00pm CST at the Sumner Cemetery.
