Marvella Patterson Obituary

Marvella E. Patterson, age 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Mt Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born on June 13, 1942 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Glen ‘Red’ William and Edith Leah (Akers) Hornbuckle of Lawrenceville, Illinois. She married Ellis Leo Patterson on December 21, 1963, and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. Also preceding her in death was her brother Harry Donald Hornbuckle.

While living in Florida, Marvella owned and operated two businesses: ‘Friends of Senior Citizens’, in which she helped seniors get nursing home care and ‘Helping Hands’, which was a home care agency for seniors. After moving back to Lawrenceville, Marvella opened ‘Consignment on the Square’, an antique and resale shop.

Marvella was a devout Christian. She enjoyed sewing, car rides, and eating out with her daughter and friends.

Survivors include three children, Steven Leo Patterson and Dennis Lee Patterson of Centralia, Illinois, and Kimberly Patterson of Lawrenceville, Illinois and two grandchildren.

A private burial will be conducted in the May Chapel Cemetery. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
