Marie Moody Obituary

Marie M. Moody, age 94, of rural St. Francisville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, surrounded by family. She was born on February 27, 1928 in Robinson, Illinois, the youngest daughter of 14 children to H. Leo and Catherine (Primus) Clauss. She married Donald L. Moody on February 08, 1947, and he preceded her in death March 05, 2000.

Marie retired from Suttle Apparatus. In younger years, she worked at Lawrenceville Industries and Meisners in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Francisville until it closed, and then she transferred her membership to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the Women’s Club of St. Francisville. In younger years, Marie worked from home sewing many of her daughters’ clothes. Marie and Don had a large vegetable garden and she preserved the many vegetables grown. She was a talented square dancer with her husband. After her husband’s passing, she enjoyed playing Euchre on Monday and Friday with her friends. She treasured the many hours babysitting her grandchildren, Kiley and Cody Tillotson and Kati (Sumner) Kidwell, after her retirement.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; twelve brothers and sisters; three sons-in law, Bill Worstell, Mike Tillotson, and Keith Ice; and one sister-in-law, Jeanne Litherland.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Ice of St. Francisville, Illinois, Debbie Worstell and significant other, Terry Shelton of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Sue Tillotson and significant other, Steve Scott of St. Francisville, Illinois, and Kim Sumner and husband, John Sumner of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Ray Clauss of Hemet, California; nine grandchildren, Angie DeBruin and husband, Adam of Appleton, Wisconsin, Lori Ice and Jay Blackburn of Martinsville, Indiana, Heath Worstell and wife, Dana of Powell, Wyoming, Chad Ice and wife, Eileen of Vincennes, Indiana, Bron Worstell of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Kiley Tillotson of St. Francisville, Illinois, Cody Tillotson and wife, Heather of Colfax, Illinois, Kati Kidwell and husband, Vern of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Cole Sumner of Lawrenceville, Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren, AJ and Alex DeBruin, Presley and Cailyx Ice, Hannah Blackburn, Kylar Worstell, Eli Bearden, Hunter Tillitson, Dalton Worstell, Colby Tillotson, Emmitt Bearden, and Edwin Ferguson; along with several nieces and nephews

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday January 30, 2023 at 11:00am CST at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois, and may be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/emmonsmaceysteffey. Visitation will also be on Monday at the church from 10:00am until the service hour of 11:00am CST. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in St. Francisville, Illinois.

Memorial donations may be given to the Woman’s Club in St. Francisville, Illinois.
