Leroy Frye Obituary

Leroy D. Frye, age 77, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on July 07, 1943 in Cowden, Illinois, the son of Noble and Ellen (Abrams) Frye. He married Linda Lumpp on February 20, 1965 and she survives.

Leroy was a retired teamster, having worked as a truck driver with Yellow Freight. He also hauled grain for Reid Thacker. His hard work ethic was formed in his younger years in Cowden, by working two paper routes, as well as on a local farm. He was a member of the NRA. He was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, and currently attending the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, yardwork, sitting on the front porch, and spending time with his grandchildren. He served his country with the United States Army from 1961 until 1964.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Edward Frye; one sister, Nancy Anderson; and two great-granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; two children, Mark Frye and wife, Lynette and Becky Storck and husband, Mark all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Troy Frye and wife, Bonnie of Pana, Illinois; three sisters, Judy Lee and husband, Bob, Carol Klepzig and husband, Dave, Marla Geurin and husband, Dave all of Effingham, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Don Anderson of Springfield, Illinois; five grandchildren, Bobbi and husband, Kurt, Brandon and wife, Deanne, Kaylynn and husband, Chase, Torri and husband, Brandon, and Raina; six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes you to a memorial service on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 1:30 PM at the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church, as well as a time of fellowship and refreshments in the fellowship hall after the service. There will be a private burial. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrenceville Lunkers High School Bass Team or the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
