Kenneth E. Shephard, Sr. age 79, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on February 20, 1942 in McLaughlin County, Kentucky, the son of Hobert and Effie (Brown) Shepherd. He married Alice in May of 2008, and she survives.
Kenneth worked at Eaton Core in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he made automotive valves; he owned and operated the Westport Shell Station from 1983 until 1995; and then worked at ATS from 1999, until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and taking her fishing. He was a member of the American Legion. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Andrew W. Shepherd; and one half-brother, William Summers.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; one son, Kenneth Shepherd, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter, Karen Lynette Fote of Quincy, Illinois; one half-brother, David Wayne Summers; and one granddaughter, Kendra Shepherd.
There will be no formal services conducted. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
