Josephine ‘Josie’ Vangor

Josephine ‘Josie’ Vangor, age 96, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Evansville Protestant Home in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on March 10, 1927 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of William Harrison and Hettie (Bromm) Wyatt. She married Edward A. Vangor on October 02, 1988, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2012.

Josie worked in advertising for the Olney Daily Mail and the Lawrenceville Daily Record. She enjoyed bowling, embroidering, playing cards with her friends at the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens Center, as well as spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and two brothers, William Calvin (Roseanna) Wyatt and Vernon (Mary) Wyatt.

Survivors include three children, Dr. David M. Hayes and wife, Mercedes of Evansville, Indiana, Sue Ann Flood of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and Gina Jo Badger of Hartsville, Tennessee; seven grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 05, 2023 at 2:00 PM CDT at the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens Center. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
