Joseph G. Couch

Joseph G. Couch, age 83, of Lawrenceville passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his residence. Born May 26, 1927 in Lawrence County, IL he was the son of Raymond and Scharlette (Schrader) Couch. He married Edna Mae Earhart August 18, 1962 and she died May 12, 2002.Joe was a retired farmer and a retired Standard Oil agent. He was a Veteran, having served with the Marines during the Korean War. During his service with the United States Marines, he had three Honorable Discharges. He was a member of the Elks.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna, and one step-granddaughter Melissa Fiscus.Survivors include two sons Mark Couch and wife Gayla of rural Sumner, Dennis Couch and wife Margaret of St. Francisville; one daughter Katherine Fiscus and husband Dan of rural Sumner; six grandchildren Mark Allen Couch, Dennis Scott Couch, Jovonna Gertrude Couch, Lori Beth Moyes, Mathew Couch and Justin Couch; three step-grandchildren Lori Fiscus, Tony Prater and Shaun Jenkins; as well as three great-grandchildren.Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner.Services will begin at 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home.Entombment will be in Moffitt Cemetery with military rites.Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
