John M. Shidler

John M. Shidler age 78 of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois died Sunday morning December 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 29,1933 in Lawrence Co. Illinois the son of Herman and Gladys (Rowe) Shidler. He married Bonita Burrell, June 28, 1986 and she survives. Two sons survive, Jerry Shidler and wife Jamie of rural Lawrenceville, IL and Tony Moffitt and wife Susan of Lakeland, FL; three daughters Lois Timms and husband Charles of Farmington, NM. , Connie Banks and husband Dean of Park Forest, Il and Trudy Tester of rural Lawrenceville, IL., one sister Bonnie Loudermilk of rural Lawrenceville, IL, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friend of the family, Jim Plummer and wife Sherrie of Pesotum, IL. John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one great-grandchild. John was a lifelong farmer, and a member of the American Legion in Bridgeport, IL. He was a Korean Army Veteran. He was affiliated with the Island Free Methodist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday afternoon 1:00 P.M. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. till the service hour of 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Military rites by the VFW and American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
