Jean S. Wagner

Jean S. Wagner, age 96, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on January 24, 1926 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Claude and Louise Ella (Muench) Schuder. She married Robert ‘Bob’ Allen Wagner on May 14, 1949, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2013.

Jean graduated from the University of Illinois with her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. She worked as a dietitian, as a consultant at local nursing homes, and along with her husband, owned and operated a saw mill and farmed. She was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ from the age of 15, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Ladies Home Bureau.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and two brothers, John Schuder and Bernhard Schuder.

Survivors include three children, Jan Lane and husband, Bill of Rosedale, Indiana, Joan Brian and husband, Jess of Sumner, Illinois, and Andy Wagner and wife, Nan of Vincennes, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be no formal services conducted. Memorial donations may be made to the Sumner United Methodist Church. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
