Janice Marie Voltz Bellinger Mueller

Janice Marie Voltz Bellinger Mueller, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on July 14, 1934 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Mareta (Thies) Voltz.

Janice married Virgil W. Bellinger on July 10, 1954, and they had six children together. They lived most of their married life in Elgin, and Virgil preceded her in death on June 5, 1989. She married Rev. LeRoy F. Mueller on October 11, 1997 in Lawrenceville, and they resided in Ortonville, Minnesota their entire married life. He brought five adult children to their marriage. LeRoy preceded her in death on May 23, 2013.

Janice graduated from Elgin High School, class of 1952. She attended Northern Illinois Teachers College (now NI University), where she majored in elementary education, with a double major in science and library science.

Janice was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elgin. She taught Sunday School, sang in two choirs, and was often a soloist. During her high school years, she was active in many music activities, winning high awards at state contests.

As an adult, Janice took part in many activities: Camp Fire Girl leader, aide to Girl Scouts, held several offices in Business and Professional Women’s Club, conducted choirs, and a member of Lawrenceville Library Board and Ortonville, Minnesota Library Friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Virgil; husband, LeRoy; one son, Mark Bellinger; and one grandson, Brian Bellinger.

Survivors include five children, Marie O’Neill and husband, Frank of Brodhead, Wisconsin, Laura Holtz and husband, Kerry of Olney, Illinois, Gary Bellinger and wife, Barbara of Oswego, Illinois, Cathy Stewart and husband, Bruce of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Dorothy Ahlfield of Hillsdale, Michigan; five step-children, David Mueller and wife, Diane of Cloquet, Minnesota, Jeanette Alexander-Mueller of Phoenix, Arizona, Marilyn Hanson of Big Stone, South Dakota, Jonathan Mueller and wife, Sue of Champlin, Minnesota, and Kathy Nardi and husband, Tom of St. Cloud, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM CDT at the Udina Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
