James C. Garrard, age 77, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at United Methodist Village-North Campus. He was born August 3, 1938, in Robinson, IL, the son of Kenneth "Doc" and Golda (Robinson) Garrard. He married Victoria "Vicki" Young on September 4, 1959, and she died December 7, 2007.
James worked as a mechanic for Marathon Oil Company in Bridgeport, IL for 30+ years. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. James was a member of the Lawrenceville Elks Lodge 1208.
Preceding James in death were his parents and his wife Vicki.
Survivors include a son, Tory Garrard and his wife Melissa of rural Lawrenceville; a daughter, Jamie Massey and her husband Allen of rural Lawrenceville, five grandchildren Alexandra Decker, Madison Decker, Paige Jackson
Levi Garrard, and Gracie Winegar, and one great-grandchild, Emily Mahrenholz.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Robinson New Cemetery with military rites.
Memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation with envelopes available through the funeral home.
