George Black Obituary

George H. Black, age 64, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his residence. He was born September 25, 1955 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of George H. and Freda Mae (Fornshell) Black.

George was a 1973 graduate of LTHS and studied at ITT Technical Institute-Houston North. He worked for Texas Pipe Line from 1978 until 1998. George enjoyed working on and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He also enjoyed hot rod cars and playing pool. He cherished the many friendships he made throughout the years of playing pool and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death was his father, George.

Survivors include his mother, Freda of Lawrenceville, Illinois; five sisters, Edith Martin of Paducah, Kentucky, Sandra Cunningham and husband, Darryl of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Phyllis Tyler of Metairie, Louisiana, Mary Jo Desser and husband, Tim of Lafayette, Indiana, and Vanessa Black of Lawrenceville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and one son, Ryan Black of Newburgh, Indiana

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:30 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A private burial service will be conducted at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Center for Wound Healing.
