Garrel Dean Gosnell

Garrel Dean Gosnell, age 82, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. He was born on May 12, 1942 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of James B. Gosnell and Betty L. Cummins. He married Brenda Workman on April 08, 1977, and she preceded him in death on October 18, 2021.

Dean served his country in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for Clark’s Trucking of Granite City, as well as various other companies. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church on November 20, 2022. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Turley of Calhoun, Illinois; three sons, Tony Gosnell and wife, Angela of Dundas, Illinois, Jimmy Gosnell and wife, Kodi of Olney, Illinois, and Kevin Gosnell and significant other, Dana Treece of Robinson, Illinois; two step-daughters, Susan Myers and husband, Rich of Olney, Illinois and Debra Hardig and husband, Leo of Oblong, Illinois; one step-son, Steven Workman of Danville, Illinois; three sisters, Debbie Skinner and husband, Ken of Bloomfield, Indiana, Eva Sparks and husband, Rick of Worthington, Indiana, and Sandra Melvin and husband, Craig of Ohio; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hollister Cemetery with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
