Ellen Piper

Ellen Louise Piper (nee Seward) passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Aperion Health Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. Ellen was born on August 31, 1930 to Donald and Vera Seward in Bridgeport. She married Lloyd Donald Piper on July 16, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2013. Her parents and siblings, Robert Seward, Eileen Rankin and Harold Seward also preceded her in death.

Surviving Ellen are: son J.D. Piper; daughter Ann Rexford (Peter); granddaughter Katie Postel Reitinger (Devin); and two great granddaughters, Violet and Scarlett.

For many years, Ellen worked at Suttle Apparatus in Lawrenceville – first on the assembly line before moving into sales, where she truly flourished. Another passion in her life was camping. She and Don were members of the Holiday Rambler Camping Club for many years. They traveled all over the country with the club, visiting locations from New York to California. They especially enjoyed summers in Michigan and over 25 years wintering in Florida. Ellen was an avid reader, traveler and people-person who never knew a stranger!

Funeral services were private and were conducted at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Burial was at May Chapel Cemetery.
