Don Barrett

Donald L. Barrett, age 86, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. He was born on September 28, 1936 in Marshall, Illinois, the son of Douglas and Pearl (Milbouin) Barrett. He married Donna Howe on December 27, 1975, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2017.

Don served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a retired truck driver. His memberships included the Sumner United Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW, and 40&8.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; one sister, Nancy Stepp; and three grandchildren, Ryan Aycock, Robert Ingram, and Donnetta Pummel.

Survivors include three children, Donald Ralston Vincennes, Indiana, Joyce Liechty Smith of Jasper, Alabama, and Roberta Liechty Martin and husband, Mike of San Tan Valley, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Joseph Higginbotham, Paula Pate, Dr. Erica Kane, Jodi Bennett and husband, Floyd, Jeremiah Ralston, Jacob Ralston, Lakan Aycock; 28 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m. CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery.
