Clyde Medford ‘Med’ Lawson, Jr., age 79, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, June 09, 2024 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. He was born on April 01, 1945 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Clyde Medford Lawson, Sr. and Wilma Jean (Price) Lawson.
Med had worked at the Texaco Refinery, was an engineer on the railroad out west, and was a security guard for the casino. He was a very proud Veteran and loved his country. He served in the United States Navy abroad the USS Schofield, during the Vietnam War. He was past Commander of Post #28 in Lawrenceville and was a Mason. He was an avid reader and could tell you just about anything, especially concerning wars.
His friends were his world. He cherished the many memories from the neighborhood gang and those he met throughout his life. One friend in particular was his best buddy for over 70 years, Dean Ross.
He leaves so many friends and staff at the Aperion Care Nursing Home in Bridgeport; they were his life for two and half years and was so loved by all of them. Med was a Christian and a true believer in Jesus Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Lesley Lawson of Gainesville, Florida and one sister, Susan Gher and husband, John of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
A service of remembrance will be announced following the renovation of the American Legion in Lawrenceville. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion or the Lawrence County Humane Society. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
