Clara B. Mathes, 70, of Sumner, IL passed away December 6, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN. Born December 14, 1938 in Lawrence County, IL she was the daughter of William D. and Evelyn P. (Volkman) Gosnell.Clara worked as a CNA and housekeeper at a local nursing home several years ago. She attended the Highway Church of God.Survivors include two sons Fred H. Schultz of Mt. Carmel, IL and Randy L. Schultz of Townsend, TN; one daughter Connie Schultz of Sumner, IL; three brothers Robert E. Gosnell and Ed Gosnell both of Lawrenceville and Kenneth David Gosnell of Indiana; five sisters Donna Smith, Dolores Plummner, Sally Legg and Freda Hughes all of Bridgeport and Shirley Beers of Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.The funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Riley Children's Hospital with envelopes available through the funeral home.
