Betty Lou Shank

Betty Lou Shank, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, August 06, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on May 27, 1938 in Anderson, South Carolina, the daughter of Effort James and Bessie (Ramey) Wilbanks. She married William V. Shank on October 14, 1961, and he preceded her in death on August 06, 1994.

Betty worked at the Sewing Factory in Flat Rock, WAKO Radio, and Illiana Carpet. She was also a caretaker and cleaned houses. She was a member of the Hi-Way Church of God, and attended the Birds United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, crafting, rock gardening, collecting glassware, as well as traveling and spending time with Nolan.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; eight brothers, Cecil, Earl, Lawrence, Ralph, Rollie, Berry, Roscoe, and Frank; six sisters, Ruth, Grace, Olliebell, Ruby, Lomar, and Nellie; and special friend, Nolan Hatfield.

Survivors include two children, David Shank of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Sandra Vickery and husband, Billy of Anderson, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Kristie Cunningham and husband, Steve and Grant Vickery and wife, Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Donovan Conwell, Bryson Vickery, and Conner Vickery; and special friend, Peggy Cummins.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM CDT at the Hi-Way Church of God, located at 10611 Kaskaskia Lane in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CDT at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
