Bernice Geer passed away November 29, 2022 in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on May 12, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Katharina Mosbacher. She was of German descent. Her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandmother were both born in Germany. She married Harry M. “Red” Geer on August 30, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He passed away on October 2, 2015. They were married 68 years.
Bernice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #28, having served as President in 1950-1951. She was also a member of the VFW 2244 Auxiliary. She served many years as a Grey Lady at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. Bernice worked at several businesses, mainly 17 years at Cannon Machine and Welding Shop. She loved handiwork – knitting, crocheting, and making quilts. She loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and nephew.
She is survived by three nieces, Kathy Gnade, Linda Gnade, and Linda Briner; three nephews; John Bennett, Gary Bennett, and Robert Bennett; as well as many friends, especially Harold and Mary Lou Tucker.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm CST at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
