Zula F. Cunningham, 96, formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away on January 27, 2015 at Arbor Terrace Sudley Manor in Manassas, VA. She was born January 29, 1918 in Sumner, IL to Otis and Blanche (Piper) Fyffe.
Surviving are her children, Theresa A. Paparozzi, of Woodbridge, VA., Silas D. (Gaynell)Cunningham Jr. of New Orleans, LA., Kenneth N. (Diane) Cunningham of Glendale, AZ. and Elsbeth C. (Mike) Stein of Vincennes, IN., 8 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
Preceding her in death are her husband of over 50 years, Dr. (Capt.) Silas D. Cunningham, Sr., U.S. Naval Dental Corps (Retired), as well as two sisters, one brother, a great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Zula enjoyed gardening, creating bonsai, cooking, sewing, needlepoint, and furniture restoration. She was honored for the many hours she volunteered for Navy Relief. She loved to travel and did so extensively all over the world.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, IL. with the Rev. Gary Pearce officiating. A brief graveside ceremony will follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
