Winifred 'Winnie'

Winifred "Winnie" (Hopkins) Gay, age 86, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Lawrenceville. She was born November 21, 1927 in Bourbon, Missouri, the daughter of Eldon and Daphna Irene (Murray) Hopkins. She married Donald Ray Gay on December 28, 1957, and he preceded her in death July 8, 2014. Winnie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Ash Grove, Missouri. Other memberships include VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. Preceding Winnie in death were her parents, her husband Donald, and one daughter, Linda Archer. Survivors include, three sons Eric W. Gay of Lawrenceville, Tracy R. Gay (Amy) of Vincennes, Indiana and Damon B. Gay (Loraine) of New Iberia, Louisiana; six grandchildren Devon Gay, Jacob Gay, Mason Gay Daniel Gay, Amy VanHook (David), Beth Livingston (Jeff); and four great-grandchildren Michael VanHook, Natalie VanHook, Lauren Livingston and William Livingston. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at Lawrenceville City Cemetery. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Lawrence County Humane Society or Good Samaritan Hospice.
