Wilmer Lewis Porky Wilson, age 88, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 5, 1921 in Lawrenceville, IL to Willis and Lois (Walters) Wilson. His first wife, Wanda Lea Quick died September 9, 1947. He married his second wife, Mary Irene Crouch September 8, 1950 and she survives. Wilmer was a member of Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville. He was an Army Veteran having served during WWII. Wilmer worked as a stillman at Texaco Refinery for 31 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of the Masons since the age of 21; a member of the Texaco Old Timers and a volunteer for the Sign of the Kingdom East. Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. Survivors include four daughters, Linda and Darrell Fisher, Peggy and Artie Akers, Judy and Randy Hutchinson, and Jill Deckard all of Lawrenceville; eight grandchildren Carmen Rains, Kevin Fisher, Keith Fisher Kimberly Fisher, April Ritter, Dustin Akers, Robert Hutchinson, and Brianne Deckard; as well as eight great-grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations in Wilmers memory be made to the Salvation Army, Sign of the Kingdom East, or Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
