Wilma Lucille Thacker, age 89, of rural Sumner, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was born November 1, 1936, in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of William and Martha (Pryor) Ivie. She married Kenneth Nelson Thacker on June 24, 1956 and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2015.
Wilma worked as a farm wife. She was a member of the Dogwood Methodist Church. Then was a member of the Landes Methodist Church until they merged with Chauncey. She was a member of the Chauncey-Landes United Methodist Church and an active member of the Chauncey Community Club. She attended Chauncey Church of God. Wilma enjoyed gardening, her flowers and spending time with her family. Wilma had a special talent of taking care of others and was good at giving her time to others.
Wilma lived with Euckel and Kathryn Best of Oblong for 10 years until married in 1956. Euckel and Kathryn are both deceased.
Preceding Wilma in death was her husband, Kenneth; parents, William and Martha Ivie; three brothers, Clarence Ivie, Donald Ivie and Wilma’s twin brother, William (Bill) Ivie; two sisters, Betty and Maxine; one sister-in-law, Peggy and one brother-in-law, Clyde.
Survivors include four sons, Earl (Janice) Thacker of Sumner, Phillip (Cindy) Thacker of Sumner, Gary (Theressa) Thacker of Oblong, and Lee (Linda) Thacker of Oblong; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Sivet-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till the service hour of 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Sumner.
Burial will be in the Waggoner Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chauncey-Landes United Methodist Church or Chauncey Crossroads with envelopes available through the funeral home.
