William 'Bill' H. Pierson

William ‘Bill' Homer Pierson, 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 10, 1934 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Addison, Sr. and Elsie Mae (Parkinson) Pierson. He was married to Karen Lynn Becker for 53 years. They were married on July 6, 1963 in Lexington Park, Maryland and she survives. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy for 22 years in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his time in the military, he worked as a deputy for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department for 12 years and as a police officer for the Bridgeport Police Department for five years. He and his wife, Karen, managed a self-storage company in several cities for 10 years. He also taught industrial maintenance at Olney Central College and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Terri Usher; two brothers, and five sisters. Survivors include his wife, Karen; one son, David Pierson and wife, Bobbi, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; four daughters, Hope Jurgens and husband, Jeff, of Benton, Illinois, Debra Bogner and husband, Ken, of Clarksville, Tennessee, Vicki Pierson of Greenwood, Indiana, and Sherri Orcutt and husband, Don, of Bowie, Maryland; one son-in-law, Bill Usher of Georgia; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. A visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
