William 'Bill' E. Johnson

William E. "Bill" Johnson, Sr., age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, died December 1, 2014, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. He was born October 12, 1927, in Trimble, Illinois, the son of John and Vivian (Sorrels) Johnson. Bill worked for CIPS for over 35 years as a Lineman, Foreman, and Supervisor in Robinson, Lawrenceville and Hoopston, Illinois. He was a Veteran with the United States Navy, having served during WWII. Bill was a member of the Amercan Legion and a lifelong member of the Elks. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, one son Frank, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, William E. Johnson, Jr. (Donna) of Palestine, Illinois, Rex A. Johnson (Lisa) of Grand Prairie, Texas, two daughters Sharon Vinsel (Fred) of Lawrenceville and Diane Johnson of Hoopston, Illinois; one sister Ann Duncan of Robinson, Illinois; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Private services were conducted. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home handled the arrangements Memorials may be made to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Endowment and Development Fund.
