William F. Christian, 81, of rural Lawrenceville, IL passed away August 3, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. Born November 18, 1927 in Orange County, Indiana he was the son of William C. and Mildred (Taylor) Christian. He married Georgia Stevenson July 19, 1949 and she survives.William was a retired union carpenter. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion.Survivors include his wife Georgia of rural Lawrenceville; two sons Steve and wife Debbie of Palm Bay, FL and Danny and wife Audrey of rural Lawrenceville; three daughters Suzanne and Dave Heidbreder of Olney, IL, Terry and Lloyd Shaffer of rural Lawrenceville, and April and Scott Eaton of rural Lawrenceville; three sisters Wanda Cissell of Texas, Marjorie Waggoner of Olney, IL and Maxine Christian Sinclair of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.William was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.The funeral will be 2:00 pm Thursday at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.Friends may call from 12:00 (noon) until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.Burial will be in the Derr Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
