William O. Campbell, 82, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away March 15, 2008 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.Born April 25, 1925 in Lawrence County, IL he was the son of Byron and Beulah (Dickenson) Campbell. On December 27, 1953 he married A. Joanne Smith. She preceded him in death on August 11, 1982.Survivors include two sons: Rick and Jacky Campbell of Torreon, Mexico, Tom and Valerie Campbell of Seattle, WA, a daughter: Amy and Scott Mielock of Cary, NC, a brother: John Campbell of Decatur, IL and two grandchildren: Alyssa and Amanda Mielock.He was a lifelong farmer. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, Elks, and the Moose.Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 7:00pm with a Memorial Service to be conducted at 7:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Assn.
