Wilbur L. Dunlap, 78, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016. He was born October 7, 1937 in Crawford County, Illinois, the son of Charles and Lilley (Snyder) Dunlap. He married Sandra Kay Sager on June 2, 1956 and she survives. Wilbur worked as a boilermaker at Texaco Refinery and Indian Refinery. After the closing of the refinery, he then worked at Joule Construction. He was a member of Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois, where he served as a trustee. He was an Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid Cardinals fan, and enjoyed working in his yard. In his younger years, he was very active as a girls softball coach. Most of all, though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Preceding Wilbur in death were his parents; daughter, Debbie Wimberly; grandson, Dusty Wimberly; four sisters, Elizabeth Cooley, June Johnson, Marian Catt, and Mildred Hess; and three brothers, Kenneth Dunlap, William Dunlap, and Willard Dunlap. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Brenda Arnold and Cindy Hawkins and husband Randy all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; son-in-law, Terry Wimberly of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters, Sarah Maus of Oblong, Illinois and Mary Guess of Robinson, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Crystal Wimberly, Troy Arnold and wife Jeana, Tracie Arnold, Matt Lindsay, Mindy Lindsay, Lindsey Susott and husband Marvin, and Dane Hawkins; and five great-grandchildren, Mason Parrott, Dakota Arnold, Natalee Arnold, Noah Lemus, and Joshua Susott. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wilbur's honor may be made to the Free Methodist Church.
