WC Siddens, 84, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Saturday November 7, 2009 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.Born August 6, 1925 he was the son of Butler and Bertha (Simmons) Siddens.He was founder of Midwest Auto Supply Co. which was founded in 1947. In the mid 1970's he founded MAECO CO. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a highly decorated Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks and Moose Lodges.WC was a very generous and considerate man. He helped many people in Lawrence County. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid horseman. He was active in Civic organizations. While attending high school, he also took night classes, where he studied woodworking, electricity, metalcurgy, and electronics. He was a Naturalist and tree planter. He was an extreme Fancier of Bamboo, and he grew 87 varieties of Bamboo on his property. He developed Midway Estates which is located near the Lawrence County Country Club. He developed and maintained an Illinois National Conservatory locate along the Indian Creek. He designed and made in-board motors for boats but did not get a patent.He is survived by 2 sons: William Siddens of Lawrenceville, IL, Dr. David Siddens of Olney, IL, 2 brothers: Donald Siddens of Rochester, IL, Sonny Siddens of Rochester, IL, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. A brother and sister are deceased.His body is being cremated. Private services will be conducted at a later date.
