Wayne R. Dorney

Wayne R. Dorney, 85, of Sumner, IL passed away Monday December 20, 2010 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL.He was born December 21, 1924 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Glenn and Hazel (Case) Dorney. He was married to Winifred Koertge and she preceded him in death in 1978.He is survived by 3 daughters: Margaret and her husband W.R. Brian of Sumner, IL, Karen and her husband Dave Dunkel of Mt. Carmel, IL, Janice and her husband Eldon Scherer of Sumner, IL, a sister: Garnett Gadau of Sumner, IL, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. A son: Vernon Dorney, one great-grandson, 2 brothers, and a half sister are deceased.Wayne was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. The body is being cremated. There will be a Memorial Service conducted at a later date.In lieu of flowers, Waynes family asks that a kind deed be done in his remembrance.
