Walter L. Gowin, 72, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born February 12, 1945 in Crawford County, Illinois, the son of Jesse Singleton and Viola Hopkins Gowin.
Walter worked at Roadmaster in Olney, Illinois. He was affiliated with the Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and junking.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Carol Dee Gowin and Jesse Eugene Gowin; and four sisters, Fern Miller, Virginia Holly, Bessie Mariah, and Carolyn Lee Gowin.
Survivors include one son, Conrad Gowin of Dundas, Illinois; one sister, Grace Cafin of Duncanville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
