Wallace "Wally" Decker

Wallace “Wally” Decker Jr. of rural Flat Rock, Illinois, passed away on January 10, 2026. He was born on October 7, 1937 in Gibson County, Indiana, the son of Wallace Sr. and Lorene Fulk Decker. He married Phyllis Marie Tiffany on March 6, 1959 and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2012.

Wally was a lifelong farmer whose deep connection to the land shaped his life and values. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was known as a true outdoorsman. In his earlier years, Wally enjoyed competing in drag races and tractor pulls, pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, taking great pride in his family and the moments they shared together.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Phyllis; and grandson Joseph Decker.

Survivors include his children: Gary Decker and his wife, Julie, of Lawrenceville; Sheryl Frederick and her husband, Dan, of Lawrenceville; David Decker and his wife, Kim, of Robinson; Ron Decker and his wife, Carrie, of Lawrenceville; Diana Emmons and her husband, Mickey, of Lawrenceville; and Debra Case and her husband, Chad; his sister, Nina Downey, of Vincennes, Indiana; ten loving grandchildren, Jason Frederick, Jennifer Frederick, Zachery Wagner, Jacob Decker, Ethan Decker, Jaeleigh Waller, Jessica Emmons, Jordan Decker, Mackenzie Baker, and Parker Trinkle; and nineteen loving great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Decker Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lawrence County Ag in the Classroom, Russell Community 4-H Club, or the organization of your choice.
