Virginia L. Bonnette

Virginia L. Bonnette, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday at Washington Nursing Center in Washington, IN. She was born January 16, 1924 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Benjamin C. and Zelma Mae (Drake) Smith. Virginia worked as an LPN at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital retiring after 22 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, IL. She served with the Women's Army Corp from 1950 to 1953. She was a member of the American Legion and volunteered for the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens. Surviving are two daughters: Debra and her husband Joe Fitzgerald of Washington, IN, Sandra L. and her husband Leonard Peterson of Cleveland, TN, two brothers: Don Smith of Beaumont, TX and David Smith of Grayville, IL, two sisters: Garnet Oster of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Bell of Texas, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters: Barbara Whaley and Norma Shidler. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00am CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 4:00 until 6:00pm CST. Memorial donations may be given to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens Center.
