Victor Lewis Anderson, age 100, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his residence in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born July 22, 1925, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Joe Willard Anderson and Fannie Casey Anderson. He married Lois Wright on April 19, 1957, and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2016.
Victor retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 30 years of dedicated service and had previously worked at Suttle Apparatus. He attended St. James AME Church and proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Victor enjoyed farming and gardening, as well as mushroom hunting, fishing, and hunting. Above all, he took great pride in raising his family and will be remembered for his hard work and devotion to those he loved.
Preceding Victor in death were his parents, wife, daughter, Vici J. Mahaffey; sons-in-law, Don Neeley and Ronald Mahaffey; siblings, Anna Joiner, Virginia Hardiman and Harry Anderson.
Survivors include children: Tina Neeley of Lawrenceville, Illinois & companion Andy Supinie of Wichita, Kansas, John (Martha) Anderson of Vincennes, Indiana, Scott (Darla) Anderson of Lawrenceville, Illinois; siblings, Irene (Donnie) Morris of Princeton, Indiana and Carl (Ginger) Anderson of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, John J. (Allison) Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Janine Anderson, Megan (Jerrod) Taylor, Morgan (Rob) Stricklin, Haley Underwood, and Austin (Morgan) Wanke; eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4, 2026, 12:00 noon at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. till the service hour of 12:00. Burial will be in Portee Cemetery where military rites will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carle Hospice.
