Thomas G. Grogan, age 63, of Claremont, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born September 20, 1962 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Lee Grogan and Helen Mieure Grogan. He married Darlene York August 28, 2016, and she survives.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army before dedicating his career to serving others as an EMT and paramedic with several area ambulance services. He also served his community as a member of the Christy Fire Protection District. A faithful member of Union Chapel Church, Tom lived a life centered on service, compassion, and helping those in need. He generously volunteered his time at the Palestine Rodeo and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. In his free time, Tom enjoyed fishing, floating the Current River in Missouri, and, above all, spending cherished time with his family and faithful companions.
Preceding Tom in death were his parents; grandson, Noah Reed; step-grandson, Spencer Lewis.
Survivors include: his wife, Darlene; children, Amanda (Ryan) Reed of Sumner, Justin (Jessica) Grogan of Carmi, Bill (Desiree) Lewis of Claremont, Matt (Keisha) Lewis of Robinson, Mike (Charity) Lewis of Dieterich; siblings, Dan (Nancy) Grogan of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Aleigha (Garrison) Powell, Natalie (fiancé, Josiah) Reed, Nathaniel (fiancé, Brianne) Reed; great-grandchildren, Easton Powell and Waylon Powell; several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 31, 2026, 4:00 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. till the service hour of 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be conducted.
