Thomas 'Tom' C. East

Thomas ‘Tom’ C. East, age 67, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Richland Nursing and Rehab in Olney, Illinois. He was born on December 05, 1956 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Forrest and Mary Sue (Fortner) East. He married Marlene Sanders on January 21, 1983, and she survives.

Tom was a truck driver. He loved working for Boyd Grain in Washington, Indiana and K.C. Transportation in Princeton, Indiana. He was a member of the Sumner Community Church. He enjoyed listening to the Beatles and the Monkees, doing yard work, playing with his grandchildren, and aggravating Marlene’s cat.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Eric Burke of Vincennes, Indiana, Toni (Bill) Strange of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Marty Burke of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Rockie (Shelley) Burke of Vincennes, Indiana, and Summer East of Fairfield, Illinois; one brother, Forrest ‘Bud’ East of Vincennes, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
