Shirley May Thacker, 84, passed away December 12, 2012, at her home in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on May 18, 1928, in Oblong, IL, she was the daughter of Amos and Elizabeth (Barrett) Wolfe. She graduated from Oblong High School in 1946, and married Bobby L. Thacker on June 29, 1946. Shirley was a homemaker, wife and mother in rural Chauncey, IL, prior to the family moving to Vincennes, Indiana in 1966. She worked as a clerk at Hallmark in Vincennes before retiring. Shirley loved her flowers and gardening, along with traveling to see fall foliage, spending time with her family and friends and her beloved dog and companion, Jimmy Jet. Her parents, an infant son, Jerry Thacker, a grandson, Jason Reeves, an infant brother, and her brothers Frank, Russell, Bruce and Phillip Wolfe preceded Shirley in death. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Bobby L. Thacker, one son David and Cynthia Thacker of Vincennes, IN , two daughters Linda Allman of Vincennes, IN and Deborah and David Janssen of Crawfordsville, IN; sisters Dorothy Deckard of Bensenville, IL, Barbara and Bob Logan of Sacramento, CA; one brother, Richard and Phyllis Wolfe of Mountain Grove, MO; seven grandchildren, Ryan Thacker and wife Stacey of Terre Haute, IN, Chance Kolarick of Evansville, IN, Mandy Kolarick of Vincennes, IN, Melissa Graybill and husband Eric of Denver, CO, Emily Miller and husband Jim of Carmen, IL, Whitney Camp and husband Wesley of Clay City, IN, Ashley Swartzendruber and husband Jordan of Goshen, IN; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Reeves, Cody Miller, Jacob and Ayden Thacker, Reyce Kolarick, Lola Graybill and William Camp. Funeral services will be 10 AM (CST), Saturday at Sivert-Macey Funeral Home, Sumner, IL. The family will receive friends from 9 AM to 10 AM (CST) Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Waggoner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation in memory of her grandson, Jason Reeves. Envelopes will be available through the funeral home.
