Shirley Jean Patrick

Shirley Jean Patrick, age 74, of Sioux Falls, SD (formerly of Lawrenceville) passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Born August 27, 1935 in Lawrence County, IL she was the daughter of Robert Lee Gillum and Edith Elma (McBride) Gillum. Shirley graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1953. On June 3, 1962 she married John Mike Patrick in Lawrenceville, IL. After marriage, Shirley and John lived in Freeport, IL; Decatur, IL; and East Moline, IL. In December of 1967 Shirley and John re-located to Sioux Falls, SD.Shirley was an active member of Eastern Star, El Riad Shrine Auxiliary, and Jobs Daughters. Shirley was very involved in the Lincoln High School Band Backers Association and spent hours sewing wind-socks as a fundraiser for the band over a course of three years.Shirley is survived by her husband John Mike Patrick, daughter Jennifer Lynn Patrick and fiancé James Francis Bauman; sisters Mildred Gillum of Lawrenceville, IL, Opal Westgate of Niceville, FL, Evelyn (Chuck) Milliken of Cheshire, CT, and Marilyn Hayes of Vincennes; sisters-in-law: Cecil Gillum of Tulsa, OK and Helen Gillum of Vincennes, IN.Shirley is preceded in death by her infant son David Michael Patrick, her father Robert Lee Gillum; her mother Edith Elma McBride Gillum; her sisters: Lois Lynch and Hazel Fleetwood; her brothers: Lyman Gillum, Faye Gillum and Albert Gillum.Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, SD with envelopes available through the funeral home.
