Shirley Elaine (Heath) Smith

Shirley Elaine (Heath) Smith, 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the United Methodist Village Main Campus. She was born October 28, 1935, the daughter of Levi Benjamin and Sarah Florence (Waggoner) Heath. She married William H. Smith on September 5, 1970 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2014. Shirley was a bookkeeper at the Daily Record and Illinois Gas Company, both located in Lawrenceville, Illinois; as well as the Crane Naval Base in Odon, Indiana. She and her husband lived in Arizona for many years. She was also a member of the Central Christian Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her son, Heath Smith; brothers, Ralph E. Heath and Gail E. Heath; and sisters, Frances E. James and Fay E. Hawkins Survivors include brother, Glen Heath of Lawrenceville, Illinois; sister, Kay Whittaker of Caldwell, Idaho; devoted caregivers and nieces, Linda Goss and husband, Dan, of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Teri Linton and husband, Terry, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens Center.
