Matthew "Scott" Shank, age 48, of rural Flat Rock, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, at his residence. He was born February 8, 1966, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Zane and Dixie (Ford) Shank.
Scott was a 1984 graduate of LHS. He then attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in horse shoeing. He then graduated from Michigan State as a dental tech. Scott owned and operated Shank's Ferrier Service. He was a member of Birds Free Methodist Church and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his parents, Zane and Dixie Shank of Lawrenceville; one sister, Margaret Sue (Stephen) Kerr of Canton, Georgia; one niece, Kristy (Kenneth) Dye of Georgia, and one great-nephew Benjamin Ryan Smith of Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital or Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
